How to select eco-friendly materials for your garden

The supplies you use in your garden might be detrimental to the environment. Especially hard landscaping can produce some seriously high carbon emissions, but fortunately, there are many environmentally friendly options available.

Even while some carbon dioxide is reabsorbed as concrete is exposed to the air, cement, which is needed to build concrete, contributes roughly 1 kg of carbon dioxide for every 1 kg produced.

The lone exemption is wood, provided it comes from managed forests. Seek out the FSC or PEFC mark. Utilizing new wood for construction can be carbon neutral, actively assisting in the fight against global warming.

Patios and paths are still allowed in a garden with a sustainable design, but they are limited to a minimum and constructed from recycled ceramic “gravel” or old stone slabs. The environmentally friendly garden features pergolas made of untreated, locally sourced red cedar, used garden seats and tables, or handmade green oak furniture.
